You are invited to meet the 2020/21 class of Emerging Leaders (EL) at a virtual celebratory event on Friday, June 25, 2021, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. (Central). The class of ELs will briefly respond to questions related to their projects and then be presented as Emerged Leaders. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Register in advance. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing details about joining the event.
This is a unique class of ELs. Just as the program began, the world was seized by the COVID-19 pandemic. To meet the moment, the program facilitators engaged the Emerging Leaders for an additional year. This extension enabled the ELs to complete team projects and enjoy the full experience of the program.
The celebration will be the culminating event for this class of Emerging Leaders. Since the ALA 2020 Midwinter Meeting, the groups have been working virtually on creative and innovative solutions to projects related to ALA or a professional concern. These groups have been supported by ALA staff and member guides from the profession.
Participants in this class of ELs come from across the United States and represent a variety of types of libraries. Each participant was sponsored by an ALA division, round table, chapter, or an affiliate organization.
The Emerging Leaders program began as one of ALA Past-President Leslie Burger’s six initiatives. ALA has committed to making this program available annually for newer library workers.
Please join us on Friday, June 25th, during the ALA 2021 Annual Conference & Exhibition to meet, congratulate and encourage this amazing Class of Emerging Leaders.
