Cynthia Johnson elected as the 2021-22 President-Elect of RUSA

CHICAGO ⎯  Cynthia Johnson has been elected the 2021-22 President-Elect of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA).  Johnson will serve her Presidential term during 2022-23.

“My entire career as a librarian has focused on helping our users figure out how to use our libraries and find the information or materials they need. RUSA is the obvious home for these interests and I look forward to working with everyone in RUSA to continue meeting the organization’s goals.”

Cynthia Johnson has worked as the Head of Reference at the University of California, Irvine, since April 2006. In addition to heading up the Reference Department for the UCI main campus libraries, she became the Head of the Grunigen Medical Library. Prior to arriving at UC Irvine, Cynthia worked at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and Barnard College in New York, NY. Her interests include reference services, management, gender studies, and art history.

Cynthia has a BA in art history from the University of California, San Diego, an MA in art history from Boston University, and an MS in library services from Columbia University. She has been an active member in RUSA since 2009, including chairing the Reference Services Section in 2018-2019.
