Kristine Kreidler awarded 2020 YALSA Collection Development Grant

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has selected Kristine Kreidler, Director at the Lantana (Florida) Public Library, as the winner of its 2020 Baker & Taylor Collection Development Grant.

“As the new Director, but one who will forever be a Teen Librarian at heart, I am thrilled we will be able to create a Young Adult collection where there was none before,” said Kreidler. “These generous funds will help us lay the groundwork for a diverse and dynamic YA collection, one that actively involves local teens in the selection of materials, and one that mirrors the demographics, differences, and interests of Lantana’s teens.”

Kreidler will receive a grant of $1,000 for collection development, generously provided by Baker & Taylor.

More information about the Baker and Taylor/YALSA Collection Development Grant, including the application for the next round of the grant, is available on the YALSA Awards and Grants page. Applications must be submitted online by Dec. 1, 2020.

The Baker & Taylor Collection Development Grant Jury members are: Chair Tegan Beese, Lake Villa District Library, Lindenhurst, IL; Alexandra Duncan, Asheville, NC; Gay German, Griffin High School, Griffin, GA; Elizabeth Giles, Lubuto Library Partners, Brookfield, WI; and Melanie Wachsmann, Lone Star College/Harris County Public Library, Cypress, TX.

The mission of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is to support library staff in alleviating the challenges teens face, and in putting all teens ‒ especially those with the greatest needs ‒ on the path to successful and fulfilling lives.
