Unfortunately, in today’s society this means library leaders and their communications and marketing teams need to be prepared to react to violence and other disruptive events in libraries in order to protect their public image and brand. Faced with a 24-hour news cycle world, Libraries must be ready to communicate quickly about any crisis impacting their reputation. It is essential that communications are handled effectively during and in the aftermath of a crisis.
The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present “Message Dissemination During a Crisis: Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Main Library Shooting,” on Wednesday, January 22, at 1:30-3:00 pm CT. In this webinar, Gregg Dodd, Director of Marketing, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus, Ohio, will provide an overview of a shooting incident that took place at CML’s Main Library and how he executed his crisis communications plan. He’ll share practical strategies that will help libraries implement a plan and navigate the complexities of message dissemination during a crisis.
