Marisha C. Kelly Selected as New ITAL Assistant Editor

CHICAGO—The Information Technology and Libraries (ITAL) journal has chosen Marisha C. Kelly, MLIS as its new assistant editor. As the Reference and Instruction Librarian at Northcentral University, Kelly plans, develops, integrates, implements and maintains digital systems and services; creates online modules; and facilitates workshops to support learning and information literacy. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Syracuse University, Kelly went on to receive a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Drexel University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Technology from Northcentral University. Her previous positions include Campus Librarian at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Hospital Librarian & Continuing Medical Education Liaison for Broward Health-Broward Health Medical Center, and Features Editor for Zipped magazine.

“This publication is important in showcasing the diverse experiences of information professionals, sharing how others can apply certain techniques or strategies in their work, and discussing timely topics or challenges,” Kelly states. “Library technologies, services, and resources don’t exist in isolation. It’s the people that drive them, and I’m excited to be part of a team that helps to convey stories and perspectives related to innovative projects and best practices being completed in libraries.”

Led by Ken Varnum, Senior Program Manager and Discovery Strategist, Library Information Technology at the University of Michigan Library and editor of ITAL, the Assistant Editor Search Committee consisted of ITAL Editorial Board members Jon Goddard and Brady Lund, Library Leadership & Management (LL&M) Editor Elizabeth Nelson, Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS) Editor Mary Beth Weber, and Core Advocacy & EDI Program Officer Brooke Morris-Chott.

“I am thrilled that we can expand ITAL’s editorial expertise through this new position and that Marisha will be taking it on,” Varnum says. “Her previous experience in publishing, combined with her knowledge and perspective on library technology, will strengthen our editorial and review processes.”
